#456  Stardust

A cone 6 glaze like no other, Stardust was designed to be a topcoat-used over other SMC glazes to add depth, color change and breaks. But whether used alone or with other glazes, Stardust will give a fresh, exciting finish to your work. It will break and move opaque, monochromatic glazes, and add additional excitement to sheer or textured glazes. When used alone, Stardust will change dramatically on different clay bodies. On white clays it resembles our 414 Ginger Mist-without the brown tones (and with more reaction and breaking with other glazes). Its unique finish will be sheer and sparkly, with hints of blue, purple and gold on any of our red-colored clays (246, 255 or 328), and appear dark, bronze/gold and metallic on our Black Raven Stoneware (333). Dinnerware, microwave and oven-safe when applied appropriately and fired to Cone 6 (oxidation or reduction).

Application tips: Apply one (1) dipped coat or 2-3 brushed coats on clay that has been bisque-fired to Cone 04 (glaze application should be approximately the thickness of a dime). Your total glaze application should achieve this thickness-so if you are layering Stardust with other glazes you will want to experiment with the different colors. Applying one coat may have a drastically different effect from applying two coats, and the thickness of your base glaze will change the results as well. Just be sure that your overall glaze application isn't too thick. We always recommend rinsing your bisqueware with clean water a few minutes prior to glazing. This will encourage better glaze adhesion and a smoother application. Always allow adequate drying time between coats or layering glazes.

Layers especially well with everything! But we especially love it with:
