Root Beer

#441 Root Beer

Root Beer is a rich, translucent amber brown glaze. It will break to a clear where thin, and settle into a deep, dark brown in texture and when thicker. Root Beer's unique color will change depending on the clay body color, it is especially attractive on speckled and red clays. On red clays it will darken to a deep tobacco spit color. Speckles in your clay will typically show through the glaze. Root Beer will appear dark on either of our Black Stonewares (333 or 335). Dinnerware, microwave and oven-safe when applied appropriately and fired to Cone 6 (oxidation or reduction).

Application tips: Apply one (1) dipped coat or 2-3 brushed coats on clay that has been bisque-fired to Cone 04 (glaze application should be approximately the thickness of a dime). We always recommend rinsing your bisqueware with clean water a few minutes prior to glazing. This will encourage better glaze adhesion and a smoother application. Always allow adequate drying time between coats or layering glazes.

Layers especially well with:

#412 Mint Chocolate Chip
#462 Leopard Agate
#472 Ruby Slippers
