255 Schoolhouse Red Univ

255 Schoolhouse Red Universal Stoneware is a rich, reddish-brown clay (when fired to Cone 6). Schoolhouse Red can be used effectively at both low- and high-fire. When fired at Cones 06-04, its fired color is a standard terracotta.  Ideal for throwing and handbuilding, 255 is very user-friendly for a wide range of artists. 255 glazes beautifully, and will warm many glaze colors. Schoolhouse Red vitrifies (becomes water-tight) at Cone 6, and can be fired up to Cone 10 in oxidation or reduction.

Did you know...Schoolhouse Red makes an exceptional decorating slip (we even make it this way!). When used on our other stonewares, it can create a strong contrast in your glazing and overall design. When used as a decorating slip, Schoolhouse Red can be fired up to Cone 10 in oxidation, reduction or salt. Let us save you a step, click here to check out our Schoolhouse Red slip-ready to use!
